Additional information:
- Guides in Pingyao are generally less professional than those in other cities/regions, and this is unlikely to change in the short term. We kindly ask for your understanding and good spirits.
- Departures are guaranteed from 2 participants.
- Maximum 18 participants per departure.
- Registration closes 1 month before departure.
- Hotel check-in on the first day is available from 2:00 PM at the earliest. If clients arrive early in the morning, they can leave their luggage at the storage.
- Clients will be welcomed at the airport or train station with a sign.
- Meals are in accordance with the tourist standard of Chinese-style cuisine.
- Please send us a photocopy of the clients’ passports at least 30 days before departure.
Tips:
- If the group has more than 10 participants: around 4 EURO per person per day for the guide and half for the driver;
- If the group has 6–9 participants: around 30 EURO per group per day for the guide and half for the driver;
- If the group has only 2–5 participants: 25 EURO per group per day for the guide and half for the driver.

Your booking request must be accompanied by a deposit of 30% of the total trip cost.

Day 1: BEIJING – First Contact with the Chinese
Welcome
Arrival in Beijing. Over 19 million Chinese people live here, and it is in the heart of this city that one still finds the dreamlike images of “Imperial China.”
Welcome and transfer to the city. Check-in at the Qianmen Jianguo Hotel or similar (from 2:00 p.m. at the earliest).
Rest and meals on your own today.
During your free time, you may choose to visit the following sites at your own pace and interest:
The Antique Market (Liulichang), known for its antiques and traditional architecture.
The Dashilan shopping district, rich with the Beijing ambiance of the early 20th century.

Day 2: BEIJING – Life of the Emperor
Breakfast at the hotel, then visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and the geographic center of yesterday’s and today’s city.
In the center stands the Mausoleum of Chairman Mao, facing the Gate of Heavenly Peace.
Explore the famous Forbidden City, with over 900 halls including 6 main buildings: the Hall of Supreme Harmony for official ceremonies, the Hall of Complete Harmony (banquets), the Palace of Heavenly Purity (throne room), the Empresses’ residences, the concubines’ quarters (now museums), and the imperial gardens.
Lunch in a local restaurant, then visit the Temple of Heaven with its majestic round hall crowned by a triple-layered blue tiled roof. The Emperor used to visit twice a year, during the solstices, to pray for good harvests.
Return to the hotel. Dinner on your own.
D3
Day 3: BEIJING – A Child’s Dream
Breakfast.
Excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu.
On the way, enjoy a 30-minute Chinese language introduction given by your guide—you’ll learn a few words of this complex language.
The Great Wall is world-renowned, though not visible from the Moon as often claimed, this 6,000-km structure is truly impressive.
Ascent and descent on foot. (Optional: cable car or toboggan)
Lunch at a local restaurant.
Return and visit the Summer Palace, located in Beijing’s outskirts, with poetically named pavilions like “Orderly Clouds” and “Jade Waves.”
Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
D4
Day 4: BEIJING – Chinese Daily Life
Breakfast.
Morning walk at the Olympic Park with outside views of the Water Cube and Bird’s Nest.
Taiji initiation (Taoist exercise).
Lunch with a local family in the Hutongs (old Beijing neighborhoods). A hands-on dumpling-making class will be offered. You’ll also enjoy a guided walk.
Visit the Lama Temple, known for its 26-meter-tall Buddha statue carved from a single 8-meter-diameter sandalwood tree.
Tea tasting at a traditional teahouse.
Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: BEIJING / PINGYAO – Ming Dynasty
Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the station. High-speed train to Pingyao.
Arrival and lunch.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site from the Ming Dynasty, Pingyao is a well-preserved walled city. The entire city is an “old town.”
City tour:
The City Walls, Rishengchang Bank (the first bank in China), the Yamen (town hall), the Confucius Temple, Ming and Qing Street—a truly classical and authentic China beautifully preserved!
Shanxi Province is the birthplace of Chinese noodles. Enjoy an introduction to hand-cut noodles like “Daoxiaomian,” “Cuoyu,” and “Mao’erduo.”
Dinner on your own. Overnight at Xinglongyi Inn (charming) or similar.

Day 6: PINGYAO / XI’AN – Rural Life
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depart for Liangcun village, 20 minutes from Pingyao. This untouched village retains its rural charm, free of tourism.
Visit typical houses and farmland to learn about Chinese peasant life.
Visit the Shuanglin Monastery.
Before heading to the station, you’ll have time to explore a local market.
Lunch, then return to Pingyao.
Transfer to the station. High-speed train to Xi’an (3 hours).
Arrival in Xi’an, one of China’s oldest capitals, dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221 BC).
Dinner on your own. Overnight at Grand Noble Hotel or similar (central location).
D7
Day 7: XI’AN – Back to 221 BC
Breakfast.
Walk at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, followed by a visit to the Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City, where you’ll take a short calligraphy class.
Visit a jade workshop.
Lunch.
Excursion to the excavation site of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di’s tomb, with the famous army of 6,000 life-sized Terracotta Warriors, horses, and chariots.
Return to the city and explore the old districts. Visit the Great Mosque in traditional Chinese style.
Dinner on your own.
Optional: Dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty performance.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: XI’AN – CHONGQING – A Dynamic City
Transfer to the station. High-speed train to Chongqing (about 5 hours).
Arrival and meet your English-speaking guide. Visit Ciqikou, an old village 10 km west of Chongqing known for its porcelain production.
Photo stop at Liziba Station to observe a fascinating phenomenon: the metro passes through a residential building.
Board your cruise ship.
Overnight on board.

Day 9: FENGDU
Buffet breakfast.
Shore excursion to Snow Jade Cave in Fengdu (included)

Meet your local guide and visit Yichang’s Binjiang Park, a unique site along the Yangtze River blending natural beauty and cultural heritage. Stretching over 10 km along the waterfront, it is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering a peaceful escape from the busy city.
Free time on the local shopping street.
Transfer to the airport for an evening flight to Shanghai (only one afternoon flight available)

Day 12: SHANGHAI – Memories of “Tintin and the Blue Lotus”

Explore old Shanghai, its maze of lively alleys, and the famous 16th-century Yu Garden in the heart of the old town. A memorable walk through pedestrian streets lined with traditional shops is perfect for souvenir hunting.
Lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a walk in the former French Concession: Tianzifang (a typical Shanghai neighborhood) and Fuxing Park, a fine example of a classic French garden.

Day 13: FROM SHANGHAI TO SUZHOU – Absolute Contrast
Mini-cruise on the village canals—another view of “China’s Venice.”
Drive to Suzhou.
Suzhou is known for its stunning classical gardens and has successfully preserved its silk workshops, private mansions, and scholar residences from Imperial China.
Visit the Master of the Nets Garden and stroll through Shantang Street, a UNESCO heritage area.
Shopping opportunity at a silk workshop with a wide variety of silk products.
Lunch during the visits.
Return to Shanghai.
