- Guides in Pingyao are generally less professional than those in other cities/regions, and this is unlikely to change in the short term. We kindly ask for your understanding and good spirits.
- Departures are guaranteed from 2 participants.

- Registration closes 1 month before departure.
- Hotel check-in on the first day is available from 2:00 PM at the earliest. If clients arrive early in the morning, they can leave their luggage at the storage.
- Clients will be welcomed at the airport or train station with a sign.

Day 1: BEIJING – First Contact with the Chinese
Welcome
Arrival in Beijing. Over 19 million Chinese people live here, and it is in the heart of this city that one still finds the dreamlike images of “Imperial China.”
Welcome and transfer to the city. Check-in at the Qianmen Jianguo Hotel or similar (from 2:00 p.m. at the earliest).

The Antique Market (Liulichang), known for its antiques and traditional architecture.
The Dashilan shopping district, rich with the Beijing ambiance of the early 20th century.

Day 2: BEIJING – Life of the Emperor
Breakfast at the hotel, then visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world and the geographic center of yesterday’s and today’s city.
In the center stands the Mausoleum of Chairman Mao, facing the Gate of Heavenly Peace.
Explore the famous Forbidden City, with over 900 halls including 6 main buildings: the Hall of Supreme Harmony for official ceremonies, the Hall of Complete Harmony (banquets), the Palace of Heavenly Purity (throne room), the Empresses’ residences, the concubines’ quarters (now museums), and the imperial gardens.
Lunch in a local restaurant, then visit the Temple of Heaven with its majestic round hall crowned by a triple-layered blue tiled roof. The Emperor used to visit twice a year, during the solstices, to pray for good harvests.
Return to the hotel. Dinner on your own.

Day 3: BEIJING – A Child’s Dream
Breakfast.
Excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu.
On the way, enjoy a 30-minute Chinese language introduction given by your guide—you’ll learn a few words of this complex language.
The Great Wall is world-renowned, though not visible from the Moon as often claimed, this 6,000-km structure is truly impressive.
Ascent and descent on foot. (Optional: cable car or toboggan)
Lunch at a local restaurant.
Return and visit the Summer Palace, located in Beijing’s outskirts, with poetically named pavilions like “Orderly Clouds” and “Jade Waves.”

Day 4: BEIJING – Chinese Daily Life
Breakfast.
Morning walk at the Olympic Park with outside views of the Water Cube and Bird’s Nest.
Taiji initiation (Taoist exercise).
Lunch with a local family in the Hutongs (old Beijing neighborhoods). A hands-on dumpling-making class will be offered. You’ll also enjoy a guided walk.
Visit the Lama Temple, known for its 26-meter-tall Buddha statue carved from a single 8-meter-diameter sandalwood tree.

Day 5: BEIJING / PINGYAO – Ming Dynasty
Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the station. High-speed train to Pingyao.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site from the Ming Dynasty, Pingyao is a well-preserved walled city. The entire city is an “old town.”
City tour:
The City Walls, Rishengchang Bank (the first bank in China), the Yamen (town hall), the Confucius Temple, Ming and Qing Street—a truly classical and authentic China beautifully preserved!
Shanxi Province is the birthplace of Chinese noodles. Enjoy an introduction to hand-cut noodles like “Daoxiaomian,” “Cuoyu,” and “Mao’erduo.”

Day 6: PINGYAO / XI’AN – Rural Life
Breakfast at the hotel.
Depart for Liangcun village, 20 minutes from Pingyao. This untouched village retains its rural charm, free of tourism.
Visit typical houses and farmland to learn about Chinese peasant life.
Visit the Shuanglin Monastery.
Before heading to the station, you’ll have time to explore a local market.
Lunch, then return to Pingyao.
Transfer to the station. High-speed train to Xi’an (3 hours).
Arrival in Xi’an, one of China’s oldest capitals, dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221 BC).
Dinner on your own. Overnight at Grand Noble Hotel or similar (central location).

Day 7: XI’AN – Back to 221 BC
Breakfast.
Walk at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, followed by a visit to the Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City, where you’ll take a short calligraphy class.
Visit a jade workshop.
Lunch.
Excursion to the excavation site of Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di’s tomb, with the famous army of 6,000 life-sized Terracotta Warriors, horses, and chariots.
Return to the city and explore the old districts. Visit the Great Mosque in traditional Chinese style.

Day 8: XI’AN – CHONGQING – A Dynamic City
Transfer to the station. High-speed train to Chongqing (about 5 hours).
Arrival and meet your English-speaking guide. Visit Ciqikou, an old village 10 km west of Chongqing known for its porcelain production.
Photo stop at Liziba Station to observe a fascinating phenomenon: the metro passes through a residential building.
